How our start-up is revolutionizing parking in Switzerland
In the beginning there were two things: A widespread problem and a visionary idea. Today Parcandi is an independent AG with ambitious goals. How everything started, where we are today and where the journey is going, we tell in our blog post.
A solution to the suffering of all drivers
Finding a parking space is annoying, time-consuming and nerve-wracking. Deeply convinced that there is a smarter, more ecological and more economical solution to the parking shortage in Switzerland, our founder Corsin Sulser launched an innovation project at his former employer Baloise. The brilliant idea: simply book a parking space using the app instead of searching for a long time. This is how a real annoyance is solved elegantly. On the other hand, there are large vacant parking spaces in many residential and commercial buildings. Not only does the maintenance of these empty parking spaces cost, the owners also miss out on an additional profit.
Some save time, others money
Parcandi ensures that the available parking spaces meet demand: Parcandi users can easily and securely book vacant parking spaces online and rent them for a short period of time. A concept that has turned out to be beneficial for everyone – even for nature and city life, because the annoying search traffic is eliminated and there are fewer parked cars on the roadside.
From an innovation project to a stock corporation as a Baloise spin-off
What began as a pilot project by the insurer’s innovation team on the subject of parking space sharing has developed with a motivated team into a promising company that today has 600 customers and is currently represented with 12 locations in 5 cities. In between, of course, true to the start-up manner, there were a number of challenges, dead ends, brainstorming sessions and flashes of inspiration – but we will tell you more about that in another blog post.
The start-up founding: A first milestone to success
The founding of Parcandi AG in July 2021 by Corsin Sulser (CEO), Olga Pieritz, Cédric Wichert, Ralf Fahney and other co-founders in Basel is another milestone for our young start-up. The motivated team currently consists of 6 employees and is continuously being expanded. Parking as an urban challenge
Parking shortage is an annoying problem, especially in urban areas and growing cities. Efficient parking space management is becoming a major challenge due to increasing mobility. With its parking space sharing approach, Parcandi makes a key contribution to sustainable parking space management. Virtual, sustainable, economical. We prevent a lack of parking spaces by optimizing the utilization of existing parking spaces in private properties and reducing traffic looking for a parking space. The positive feedback we have received from our more than 600 customers encourages us in our plan: we want to be able to offer parking spaces wherever there is a need for parking.
Think big from the start – for tomorrow
We are convinced that Parcandi’s innovative approach has great growth potential. We are aiming for even more locations, even more Swiss cities and ultimately other European metropolitan areas in the future. We can hardly wait to simplify life with Parcandi for even more people in the future.
Where our journey is going
With the founding, we embark on the long journey called startup success. We’ve only “made it” when parking problems are a thing of the past once and for all. And if we have to park in between, we are guaranteed to find a Parcandi parking space nearby.
