In many Swiss cities, street parking spaces are heavily utilized. At the same time, traffic is steadily increasing, and with it the demand for parking spaces. Parcandi has developed a solution for this, which is now being funded by the federal government. <\/p>

As part of the project, Parcandi is developing a digital platform for neighborhood parking and is launching a pilot operation at a Baloise property in Basel (Lautengartenstr. 6).<\/p>

On behalf of the Office for Mobility Basel-City, an accompanying group of the University Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz evaluates the impact of the project on the traffic of people looking for parking spaces in the neighborhood around Picasso Platz as well as the utilization of parking spaces in the street area.<\/p>

With our approach, we would like to reduce search traffic, relieve precious space in the city from stationary traffic and optimize routes within the neighborhoods, among other things.<\/p>

Parcandi’s solution can be easily transferred to other properties and areas even in other cities.<\/p>

Parking in neighborhoods is one of the biggest challenges in cities today. Drivers are looking for parking spaces even though there are free spaces in private parking garages. This creates unnecessary search traffic in the neighborhood and valuable space is wasted. <\/p>

Therefore, we are developing a comprehensive digital platform to simplify parking in areas (residential areas, corporate areas) for all stakeholders and are monitoring the impact of this solution on mobility behavior:<\/p>

  • Reserving and sharing parking spaces in a dynamic pool solution, it allows the best possible use of existing spaces and search traffic is avoided. Cities get design leeway on previously public parking space (e.g. for bike lanes) <\/li>
  • Easy access and billing by means of license plate recognition and thus more convenience for the parkers (residents, visitors, employees, etc.)<\/li>
  • In addition to parking, e-charging options are offered and charged for<\/li>
  • In a later phase, the solution can form a contribution to road pricing via parking fees so that traffic flows can be effectively managed.<\/li><\/ul>

    In the more efficient use of existing space and a very simple and intuitive linking of private and public space lies the key to the solution. Through our platform, we can manage the parking space in a modern way. <\/p>

    In the specific project, it is mainly parking spaces that become empty in the evenings and on weekends, due to the change in work and therefore mobility behavior.<\/p>

    Thus, our intelligent sharing concept offers the possibility to enable the use of the parking spaces for further target groups (e.g. residents, visitors, etc.).<\/p>
